What quality you get
Our tool takes the best audio stream YouTube publishes for the video and converts it to MP3 at 192 kbps. YouTube serves its audio as 128 kbps AAC or about 160 kbps Opus, so 192 kbps keeps the full quality of the source without a larger file that adds no detail. For speech, podcasts and most music, the result sounds the same as the original upload.
MP3 or M4A?
MP3 plays on almost every device and app, including older car stereos and media players. M4A (AAC) is slightly more efficient at the same file size. If you edit audio or import it into a music app, MP3 is the safe choice.
Converting on iPhone and Android
Open the page in Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android. The MP3 is saved to your Files or Downloads app, from where you can play it or move it to your music app.
Limits
- Files up to 500 MB.
- Live streams: the tool saves a 30-second clip, since a live stream has no end point.
- Downloads are kept on our server for up to 1 hour and then deleted automatically.
